I’ve got to hand it to Virgin America – I’ve flown domestically in the US for many decades now, and the experience has varied between tolerable and terrible. But the flight on this airline to Portland was nothing but insanely comfortable, upbeat, quick and relaxed, and this safety video succeeded in setting the tone brilliantly. It was introduced in 2013, so most passengers had already seen it, but I couldn’t suppress a squeal of delight when it came on after we pushed back from SFO.

It was our second fabulous first class flight in two days (which this time didn’t cost the earth), the service was brilliant, and the destination put a smile on my face long before we landed.
